It started with my father.
There's a strange thing that happens with the people we love the most: the more they mean to us, the harder it becomes to find the words. A birthday card feels too small. A gift feels like it's missing something. And the things we actually want to say — thank you for always showing up, I still think about the sacrifices you made, I don't know who I'd be without you — rarely make it past our lips, even when we've rehearsed them a hundred times in our heads.
I knew all of this the year I wanted to give my father something different. Not another tie, not another gadget he'd set aside within a week. I wanted him to feel, even just once, exactly how much he meant to me — in a way he couldn't set aside or forget.
So I took everything I'd never quite known how to say, and turned it into a song.
I still remember the moment he heard it. The way he went quiet. The way he had to listen to it twice before he said anything at all. That moment — that one quiet, overwhelming moment — is the entire reason TreasuredSong exists.
Why we do this
